As part of an R&D program by Google, Project Glass, Google Glass is a head-mounted, optical AR display looks like a pair of eyeglasses. A Teesside-based British firm has designed a whole new revolutionary technology to produce petrol with water and air. In Stockton-on-Tees, Air Fuel Synthesis produced 5 liters of petrol till date. According to the company, the technology could solve the issues related to energy supply and fuel crisis at a great extent and it will also help curb global warming. Air Fuel Synthesis actually uses hydrogen and carbon dioxide to produce methanol to be passed through gasoline fuel reactor, which creates petrol.
Form 1 by Formlabs
Formlabs is based in Somerville, Massachusetts founded in the year 2011. Formlabs has designed and manufactured Form 1 3D Printer which combines solid engineering and amazing design to ease the whole process of printing. It uses its patented Stereolithography (SL) technology to achieve highest possible resolution in 3D printing. The company is raising around $3 million to manufacture Form 1 3D printer under Kickstarter campaign. In this technology, it cures or transforms liquid resin into a solid material by applying laser light. Previously it came in more expensive, larger models. Currently, Form 1 comes in more affordable, smaller, desktop-class model.
The researchers at Disney Research have developed physical face cloning method, which involves the complete process of simulating, designing and fabricating an artificial skin for animatronics character to resemble the face of a desired subject along with its expression. In this process, elastic properties are measured of a material which is used to produce artificial soft tissue. The researchers implement physics-based simulation to determine the reaction of the face while getting it through the robotic actuation.
They also capture 3D expressions for the desired subject. It includes an optimization method as the important part of the process to determine shape of artificial skin along with actuation parameters to get the best match to the expressions. They physically clone a real face to create the computer-generated skin design.
