Top 10 Mind-blowing Upcoming Technologies 2017

When comparing the lives of people in 20th century and today, there is a great difference and the upsurge in technology and science plays a vital role in it. We are going to see more advancement in coming years and it will bring more massive changes. We are living in an age of innovation, science and technology. Thanks to science and technology, our lives have become easier and more convenient.

We are living in the world where innovations and inventions are going to inspire us day by day. Our lives are going to be more luxurious and easier. What we can imagine today is going to be real someday. By considering this concept, here are the top 10 advances we are expecting for the next decade to come.

Google Glass

As part of an R&D program by Google, Project Glass, Google Glass is a head-mounted, optical AR display looks like a pair of eyeglasses. This augmented reality display was initially developed by Google X. It displays everything in a hands-free, smartphone-like format. Users can browse the web using voice commands. On April 15, 2013, Google started selling its prototype to the people who qualified as “Glass Explorers” across the US for $1500 for a limited period, before it arrived in the market on May 15, 2014. Because of safety and privacy concerns, the headset faced a lot of legal actions and criticism.  Google declared to stop manufacturing the prototype on January 2015.

Google’s Self-Driving Car Project

What if car would be safer and easier to drive along? Google is planning to manufacture a whole new breed of autonomous cars to take you wherever you want to. Developed by Google X, Google’s Driverless Car Project is being handled by Sebastian Thrun, an engineer at Google, a Google Street View co-inventor, and former director at the Stanford Artificial Intelligence Laboratory.

Leap Motion

The American giant, Leap Motion, Inc. presents the whole new way to interact with PC. The brand manufactures and markets a hardware sensing device which detects finger and hand motions and supports as input without any touching or hand contact. It is more sensitive than touch display and as reliable as keyboard, and more accurate than mouse. For the first time, you will be controlling your PC in 3D with your natural finger and hand movements. The company recently launched a new program for tracking hand gestures in virtual reality.

Glasses Free 3D TV

It is going to be the next big thing in upcoming decade. We are entering the world of Ultra-D televisions and displays. It is known to transform any 2D regular picture into interactive 3D illusion without using glasses. The display will have multiple layers of LCDs and refresh at around 360 Hertz (360 times per second). From cable to gaming, these 3D TVs will convert anything into 3D without having to use 3D glasses.

Air to Fuel

A Teesside-based British firm has designed a whole new revolutionary technology to produce petrol with water and air. In Stockton-on-Tees, Air Fuel Synthesis produced 5 liters of petrol till date. According to the company, the technology could solve the issues related to energy supply and fuel crisis at a great extent and it will also help curb global warming.  Air Fuel Synthesis actually uses hydrogen and carbon dioxide to produce methanol to be passed through gasoline fuel reactor, which creates petrol.

Form 1 by Formlabs

Formlabs is based in Somerville, Massachusetts founded in the year 2011. Formlabs has designed and manufactured Form 1 3D Printer which combines solid engineering and amazing design to ease the whole process of printing. It uses its patented Stereolithography (SL) technology to achieve highest possible resolution in 3D printing. The company is raising around $3 million to manufacture Form 1 3D printer under Kickstarter campaign. In this technology, it cures or transforms liquid resin into a solid material by applying laser light. Previously it came in more expensive, larger models. Currently, Form 1 comes in more affordable, smaller, desktop-class model.

Face Cloning

The researchers at Disney Research have developed physical face cloning method, which involves the complete process of simulating, designing and fabricating an artificial skin for animatronics character to resemble the face of a desired subject along with its expression. In this process, elastic properties are measured of a material which is used to produce artificial soft tissue. The researchers implement physics-based simulation to determine the reaction of the face while getting it through the robotic actuation.

They also capture 3D expressions for the desired subject. It includes an optimization method as the important part of the process to determine shape of artificial skin along with actuation parameters to get the best match to the expressions. They physically clone a real face to create the computer-generated skin design.

Bio Technology

Bio technology covers using living organisms to manufacture or develop products or any technical application which uses living organisms, biological systems or derivatives, to modify or manufacture products for a specific purpose. According to the application and tools, it overlaps with the fields of biomedical engineering, bioengineering, molecular engineering, and bio-manufacturing. Biotechnology has been used for thousands of years in food production, medicine and agriculture.

This time, brain signals are going to control Bionic Hand. People can now have fully functional hands to grab and handle every delicate item without fingers. It needs no surgery and it will be controlled by human brain completely. The company manufacturing Pro Digits hand, Touch Bionics, claims that it can install the whole hand with living skin. The synthetic skin on the bionic hand actually resembles human skin. A handicapped person can get a new hand for just $50000.

Invisible Bike Helmets

It is actually a mobile airbag which will inarguably replace all the heavy bicycle helmets. A scarf will cover it that you can wear around your neck. In case you face any impact, it automatically inflates and creates a cushion to protect your head. It was created by a Swedish technology giant, Hovding. In fact, this helmet gives better protection than regular bike helmets. It is the best choice for those who are sick of regular helmets.

Face Scanners

Developed by FaceFirst, the technology helps authorities to detect every face even in the crowd. No one can escape its observant eye. It can track the face of each individual on camera feed and it runs matches alike. When compared with other biometric systems that involve using palm-print/fingerprint and iris, face recognition has another edge with its non-contact procedure. It captures the facial images from a distance and identification doesn’t need interaction with an individual.
