Time is considered to be the most valuable thing in our lives. Science have several discoveries to save time of humans and invented several machines and gadgets. Bullet Train is yet another revolutionary mode of transportation. It is the second fastest transport mode, after planes. India is planning to get the first bullet train, with the association of Japan, between Mumbai and Ahmadabad. PM of Japan is ready to give support by signing an agreement. According to the agreement, India will get loan of Rs. 98000 Cr from Japan for technology in making it. The construction of tracks will be starting in 2017.

For the time being, here are the top 10 fastest bullet trains in the world.

10. ETR 500 Frecciarossa

Usually, the top speed of this train is around 300 km per hour and it can run up to 60 km/hr faster than Taiwan’s THSR 700T. Initially, it was running from Rome to Milan, to cover around 460 km of distance within 2 hours and 40 minutes. Today, 28 bullet trains commute on the same route every day. These trains are developed well by considering all the lavish amenities, such as sound insulation, climate control, ergonomic seats etc. to make travel even smoother. It has 4 special cabins – Platinum Class, Standard Class, Executive Class and Business Class. The train consists of soundproof cabins with free Wi-Fi.

9. THSR 700T


This high speed bullet train is serving in Taiwan. Manufactured in 2007 in Japan, the train was initially running from Taipei to Kosyung. The train runs at 300 km/hour of speed which saved a lot of time by consuming only 90 minutes. It covered huge distance between these cities to help the commuters. Otherwise, it takes around 4 hours and 30 minutes when traveled by road. It is a collaborative effort by Hitachi, Kawasaki and Nippon Sharayo. It took around $3.4 billion on the whole project. It takes only 15 minutes to reach the top speed.

NSCF Railway operates this high speed train. It was manufactured between 1996 and 2004. In 2011, the train came on track. The train runs from 300 to 320 km. It has sitting capacity of over 508 passengers on both lower and upper berth. Currently, these bullet trains cover 230 cities in France. They precisely travel from Paris to Masiley.

This E5 series bullet train is among the fastest railway networks in Japan to date. The Japanese term Shinkasen refers bullet train. On the trial run, the train reached 400 km/hr. of top speed. On the Tohoko Shinkasen line, it runs with 300 km/hr of speed. The train is manufactured with the joint efforts of Kawasaki Heavy Industry and Hitachi. The front of the train is manufactured in aerodynamic design so it can run better and deliver extra leverage over other trains. To avoid any jerk, the bogeys are made plain. It features autopilot kind of system which reduces the chances of risk when driver commits any mistake.

But by considering safety measures, the train operator keeps it at 350 km/hr. The train travels from Barcelona to Madrid as per the orders from Spanish rail network in 2011. It covers the distance of 504 km within just 2:30 hours. In 8 passenger cabins, it has the capacity of 404 passengers.

For the first time, it was operated in 2010.  The train runs from Shanghai to Beijing. Manufactured with the joint efforts of Rolling Stock and CSR Locomotives, the whole body of the train is made of light aluminum. At the front, the train resembles the shape of a fish. It has the capacity of 494 passengers and is powered by vibration free technology. It has the facilities of power port, reading lamp and electronic display.

This high speed train flied at extraordinary top speed of 574 km/hour in 2007 during the trial run and broke all records of high speed trains in the world. Currently it travels with only 360 km/hr of speed. Alstom, a French giant, has manufactured these trains. It runs on the route from Napoli to Milano via Roma, Friange and Bologra. In 2008, the Italy based NTV company acquired 25 AGV trains for €650 million. It covers around 189.7 km from Napoli to Rome within just an hour. It is made of a 98% recyclable special material. In simple words, it is an eco-friendly bullet train.

Its top speed is 430 km per hour which shows the real essence of bullet. On average, it runs at 250 km/hour. In 2004, the train was launched for public use and operated by Shanghai Maglev Development Corporation. It was manufactured by Siemens and Taisen. It has the capacity of 574 passengers. But the ticket price of the train is high, i.e. around $8 to $16 for each.
