Top 10 Most Popular Indian People In The World 2017

Recently, Forbes has announced the list of top 100 celebrities in India. It ranks biggest entertainers in India in different categories like directors, film stars, sports stars, singers/musicians, TV personalities, models, authors and comedians. The list is also based in their income and fame (measured by online presence, social media mentions, and followers), from October 1, 2011 to September 30, 2012.

As expected, out of top ten celebrities, six of them are Bollywood superstars and rest are cricket stars. This year 2016, Bollywood heartthrob Salman Khan tops the list of Forbes India’s Celebrity 100.

10. Hrithik Roshan

Earnings: 90.25 Cr.

2016 was not so lucky for this 42-year-old actor. The much-awaited, Mohenjo Daro was a romantic epic drama film featured by him released last year. Made with the huge budget of Rs. 100 Cr, it managed to collect only 58 Cr. and was a disaster for him. Now, he is looking forward and hoping for the best from his upcoming flick Kaabil in 2017. It is an emotional take revolves around a blind couple. However, he is still popular and active on social media as well as endorsing brands. In 2016, he sold most of the stake of HRX, his lifestyle brand to, Myntra, an online fashion store.

9. Amitabh Bachchan

Thanks to low TV presence and mixed performance of his films in box office, the Mega Star of Bollywood, Amitabh Bachchan slid to Rank 9 over the past 5 years. Two of his releases Wazir and Te3n couldn’t perform well at box office in 2016. Luckily, Pink, which described the women’s dignity and rights, was a hit. For the first time, he wore elevation training mask, which improves overall lung capacity and oxygen intake, on shooting for Pink in a posh neighborhood of Delhi.

She had eventful year with her two films Bajirao Mastani (2015) and Jai Gangaajal (2016) won huge critical acclaim. She also grabbed huge attention internationally through her TV presence in Quantico where she portrays Alex Parrish, an FBI agent, in second season. Now she is looking ahead to the release of Baywatch, opposite Dwayne Johnson in mid 2017. She also lend her voiceover to “Kaa – the Python” in Disney’s The Jungle Book (Hindi). She also appeared at 88th Academy Awards as a presenter in 2016.

Directed by James Erskine, A Billion Dreams is proposed to be releasing soon. He bought a stake in one of the Premier Badminton League’s team, Bengaluru Blasters.

6. Deepika Padukone

For the third time, Deepika Padukone is again the top ranked female celebrity in this list, because of a great year with some of the brand endorsements and great performance at the box office. Her 2015 flick Tamasha opposite Ranbir Kapoor did well at box office and Bajirao Mastani was a supehit, by earning around Rs. 180 Cr. Her latest Hollywood action film and debut xXx: Return of Xander Cage, opposite Vin Diesel, is also performing well. She will also team up with Bhansali again with Padmavati. Due to date issues while shooting for Ramleela, she refused the offer for presence in Fast & Furious 7.

5. M.S. Dhoni

Even his retirement in December 2014 from tests couldn’t affect his fame this year, thanks to his biopic released this year “MS Dhoni: The Untold Story”. Starring Sushant Singh Rajput in and as MS Dhoni, the film collected up to Rs. 130 Cr. in Indian box office. He scored 490 runs in 18 ODIs (average 35), 23 T20s, 28 dismissals draw as wicketkeeper, and making 27 dismissals and 263 runs (average 43). The Indian Territorial Army also conferred Dhoni with the honorary Lt. Colonel rank in November 2011.

His rising popularity and success have led him to score 1st in Fame Rank. The leadership skills and aggression of the skipper also propelled the country to the top ranked test team. He still remains active with 17 brand endorsements as well as in advertising world. To score a century on his debut in World Cup, he is the first Indian cricketer of his kind.

2. Shah Rukh Khan

He manages to have strong following by endorsing 12 brands in his kitty. He is busy shooting for his upcoming flick “Tubelight”.
