10. Black Bat (Tacca Chantrieri)

The bizarre flowers can grow up around 12 inch tall and have long stems that can spread over 28 inches in length. These whiskers have long black stems to form a weird “bat in flight” appearance. These flowers can grow basically in tropical areas which receive high humidity. The plant blooms basically in black color and usually in midsummer. They also come in green, brown and maroon colors.

They look like a swaddled baby from inside. They also have hinged hip. The plant usually blooms in summer months. These waxy flowers can grow up to 10 cm across. These flowers are very fragrant. The pollination system of this plant is also very interesting, like its unique shape. When a pollinating insect drinks the nectar inside, it shoves off the column where pollen is found. The flower uses this trick for pollination.
